As we enter the New Year, the Lamoille Community House board and staff are filled with gratitude for your support. December was a big month! We kicked it off with a generous matching donation for Giving Tuesday, followed by an incredible response to our annual appeal. We raised almost $30,000 in the month of December, and it’s all thanks to you! When we say that we cannot do this work without you, we mean it. The generosity that our neighbors have shown is beautiful.

What does this money fund?
We have significantly increased our organizational capacity this year in response to Covid-19. The biggest change is that we are now open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, requiring additional staff and meals for guests. Remaining open during the day is imperative to keeping our guests and the community safe during the pandemic. When our state leaders tells us to “stay home and stay safe,” that means we have a responsibility to provide a place for folks without homes to shelter.

Staffing hotels + collaborating with partners.
In addition to the Yellow House in Hyde Park, we are staffing three hotel locations this year to meet increased demand. We may be a small team, but when there is need, we jump in! Our staff is providing daily health checks, food deliveries, and ensuring that the basic needs of guests–such as winter clothing and referrals to mental health services–are being met. We don’t do this work alone! Together with your support and our network of partner organizations we are meeting the needs of this vulnerable population.

Thank you for your continued support!
