Three apartments for

families experiencing homelessness

now open in Morrisville!

LCH Emergency Family Apartments

For years, our adult shelter has served individuals experiencing homelessness—but we’ve long been aware of the families we couldn’t reach. Due to the physical and operational limitations of the Lamoille Community House, we were only able to house single adults over the age of 18. Meanwhile, entire families—parents with children—were left navigating unstable living situations, from tents to overcrowded arrangements with friends or relatives.

Now, that changes.

With the generous support of the United Way of Lamoille County, we’ve renovated and furnished three apartments in Morristown to create the LCH Emergency Family Apartments—safe, welcoming homes for three local families, each with at least one adult and one child under 18.

Beyond a place to stay, these families will receive housing case management and access to many of the same supportive services we offer to guests at our main shelter. Our goal is to help parents regain stability and create the consistency and security every child deserves.

These apartments represent more than just housing—they are a step toward lasting change for families in our community.

Cook a meal for our guests! Sign up online and bring over a cooked meal, or bring fixins for your fav and cook at the shelter. You’re welcome to stay and get to know a few of our guests or drop off and go! Every meal counts!

  • Each meal should provide food for 21 shelter guests and 2 staff members.

  • Please arrive around 5:30 with your meal, but earlier is fine too! Dinner is served at 6:30.

  • Desserts not necessary but always very appreciated!

New episode of Lives of Lamoille County is now out! The episode is available on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and elsewhere. This episode’s guest, Natalie, is proof that anyone can experience homelessness. In her 70s, Natalie embraces life with a hard-won joy and love. We hope you listen feelingly, to paraphrase Shakespeare.

Dispelling stereotypes and  misconceptions, our podcast allows people with lived experience to tell their own stories. Please listen, like, and follow on the podcast platform of your choice!

No one should be without a warm place to sleep.
